  • All The Biggest Sony PlayStation News From Gamescom 2014

Gamescom gets bigger and bigger every year, and although it might not quite rival E3, the show has more than its fair share of bombshell announcements. Here's a rundown of the biggest Sony news from the show so far.

If you've got the time, you can also catch up on the entire Sony press conference right here, or get a rundown on our thoughts in the video above.

    PlayStation 4 Games News:

Sony's presser was almost E3 like in the number of new games they showed off. Well, new games related to PS4, anyway. You'll notice a distinct lack of Vita and PS3 news at this year's show. Also no Last Guardian...but we still have the Tokyo Game Show, so don't lose hope yet.

The adorable Vita exclusive Tearaway will make its way to PS4. And from the PS3 side, Journey and the Unfinished Swan will also find homes PS4.
Do you like cars? If so, Sony had more Driveclub to show off.
Few things at Gamescom drew more interest that the P.T. demo, announced at the Sony press conference. We learned shortly after its release as a free download on the PSN store that it's actually a playable trailer for Silent Hills (the next Silent Hill game), both Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro were involved in its creation.

Kojima said that it's so scary you will "shit your pants." But in all honesty, this is one of the most delightfully frightening experiences most of us have ever watched. You can check out some first-hand scares here.
But preceding the Silent Hills P.T. reveal was a trailer showing off the many functions of the box in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. That's Kojima!
Hellblade. It's not Heavenly Sword, but it is from some of the people who made that game. And they're teaming up with Ninja Theory.
Day Z is coming to PS4, but it won't be exclusive.

Bloodborne, the Dark Souls-like game from From Software that's not called Dark Souls. Sony showed off even more gameplay of what will likely be an unapologetically difficult game.
While there was no word on Michael Ancel's Beyond Good & Evil sequel, he did reveal a PS4-exclusive project he's working on called Wild.

    Everything Else Sony:

Do you like TV and PlayStation? PlayStation is TV coming in October to the US and EU.

We have the full NPD run-down for how well Sony did July in the US (The Last of Us was the top-selling game, and the PS4 was the top platform), but it was at Gamescom that they revealed how well the system is doing on a global scale: 10 million system sold worldwide so far.
What's coming to PS4 update 2.0? A dedicated YouTube app and the ability to share games with friends who don't already own whatever you're playing. However, Sony later clarified that, while there's no limit on the number of times you can share games with friends, each session will be limited to 60 minutes.

We have even more coverage of the games and stories around Gamescom throughout the weekend, but you can check it all out on our hub page here.
