  • Do No Harm Cancelled by NBC

No shocker here, as NBC has pulled the Jekyll and Hyde-inspired Do No Harm from the schedule after just two airings. Even on a network with vastly diminished ratings expectations these days, Do No Harm was a huge disaster, debuting with a pitiful 0.9 and 3.12 million viewers last week and then falling to a 0.7/2 and 2.21 million viewers in its second week - numbers no broadcast network but the CW ever really ventures into. Not only was this notably lower than other recent failed TV series in the Thursday night, 10pm timeslot for NBC like Awake and Prime Suspect, but it even was averaging lower than the very low-rated news program Rock Center with Brian Williams did in that timeslot, which at least could be said to cost far less.

For the next two weeks, NBC will replace Do No Harm with repeats of Law & Order: SVU. TVLine is reporting that Bryan Fuller’s Hannibal could take over the timeslot later this spring.

It's a troubling time at NBC to be sure, in a week that also saw Smash return to horrible ratings and Christina Applegate quit the revamped version of Up All Night. In the midst of all this, Community returned last night to a 1.9/6 rating and 3.88 million viewers (per TV by the Numbers), which actually is an improvement over the 1.7 Season 3 debuted to in 2011, and up considerably from the 1.3 the show ended its season with last May. All of which is to say, Community's chances for a Season 5 have increased considerably very quickly...
