Bring it! What? We right here...
Po as an artist was much closer to Pac than BIG to me, just listen to this:
Him on Death Row would've been something else but then we wouldn't have got his classic first album which was just wall to wall bangers as that production was off the chain. Related is that a lot of those beats were apparently intended for BIGs follow up to LAD but I don't buy that.
Given time Po could've matured into one of the greats as he had some social commentary here and there and as I said before was 10 years ahead of everyone on that coke wave that so many later rappers emulated. Just like Pac birthed loads of clones who took bits and pieces of his style without Po you would have no Game, Rick Ross or Pusha T who are arguably three of the largest MCs in the game.
But that voice, mayne, that voice. Eugchk!

Just been going through this thread with great interest...didn't realise there were people who listened to Shyne....For me his pre prison stuff is up there with some of Pac/Nas/Biggie material. The difference being is Shyne was never a conscience rapper (apart from the odd track such as Life or Death)..he was just about the game. Bad Boy appeared to invest so much in him. I must have about 30 or 40 unreleased tracks and freestyles knocking about and there's a lot of quality in there! You can hear his influences from both Biggie and Pac in his lyrics and flow back then...
Such a shame Deathrow didn't get the chance or didn't think smart to sign him. He would have carried that torch for sure.
Just on a side note, it's worth appreciating how the label finished off/touched up and compleyed the songs for Godfather Buried Alive. Almost as good a job as RUSD in my book.
If anyone is after some Shyne let me know and I'll upload!

100. Like I said I think Shyne could've been Pac level huge had he handled that all important first release properly. I never did buy that BS about his voice as he's obviously changed it on purpose because when he recorded his 50 Cent diss over the phone he still had the old vocal tone and as the vid linked shows he still talks the same.
Even if he just smartens up now and drops that new voice to switch up the flow - just like his homegirl Foxy Brown did when she traded flows, flopped with it and went back to what the fans wanted - because at the minute he's trying to sell something that even those who fuck with him don't want to buy and yet his lyrics are dope but that constipated wheeze flow is just wack.
Can see it from his point of view though, rap fans have a short memory and they'd see him as a Game slash Rick Ross biter when its the other way round. Whats crazy is the dude had mad buzz before he got released as evidenced by his deal and he had loads of rappers/producers in his corner wanting him to win as they all new Puffy did him dirty but he screwed the pooch, thug style.
