  • Kobe Bryant Out For Rest Of Season

Kobe Bryant will miss the remainder of the NBA season, says reports.

ESPN.com reports that the decision has been made to sit out Kobe for the remainder of the season, as he recoups from a fracture of the lateral tibial plateau in his left knee, and since the Lakers' playoff hopes have dwindled.

A source says team physician Stephen Lombardo will re-evaluate Bryant before an official determination is made, though.

Kobe has been sidelined since Dec. 17, and also missed the Lakers' first 19 games while recovering from a torn Achilles in his left leg suffered last season. This season, he's played just six games, averaging 13.8 points, 6.3 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 42.5 percent shooting from the field.

The Lakers are 22-42, tied for the worst record in the Western Conference.

The team signed Bryant to a two-year, $48.5 million contract extension in November.
